1 March 1885 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 1st March [1885]. I set out for church but I got no further than Blanches as I felt so unwell. I therefore returned home– Mama came in for a little while before lunch. Soon after lunch Mr Clark came to call & Henry went out. Later Mr John Murray called & Annie joined him. Sir Arthur Otway called also. Henry returned to tea. Every one is full of the last week’s vote of censure on the Govt & the 14 majority of the Govt but they decide not to resign & there is general discontent. Lord Granville’s joking speech is very much commented on as very bad taste. Mrs Hambro came to tea & I afterwards walked home with her & saw her 2 daughters– We dined alone & I went early to bed– I heard that Monty’s servant Burroughes has left him after abt 20 years service.
