29 May 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 29th [May 1885]. I got up at 7 & dressed by 8 to be ready in case Mrs Eden’s gardener came to arrange my flower boxes; as he did not I copied for Henry till breakfast at 9.30 & again afterwards. Miss Holas came to bid us goodbye finally. At 12 Henry sat to Mr V. & me for his portrait till lunch when Carry Eden came to see us. After lunch Mr Vigor & I descended to the courtyard to sketch a girl who came to be model—but she had to go away being unwell. Mrs Eden’s gardener came & spent all the morning arranging my boxes. When Henry went out I rested in my bedroom till 5 when I went down stairs to tea & Henry came in– Later Mrs Bronson called & stayed some time. Dined at 7.30 & Henry went out & [I] retired to my room. It was very hot–
