30 May 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 30th [May 1885]. Copied for Henry in the morning. Mr Vigor came at 12 & we both worked at Henry’s portraits till lunch. Afterwards a girl came to sit to us & we had her in the courtyard to sit to us till 5 & posed her & began to sketch her in. At 5 dressed & went out to Mrs Eden’s garden where we found assembled a large company of English. Home by 7. Mr & Mrs & Miss Oldfield & Mr H. Forbes Brown & his friend Mr Eliot dined with us. We dined in the long hall– Henry took them home at 10; it was a lovely moonlit night & I went to bed early. | |
