20 July 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 20th [July 1885]. Wrote letters & worked &c. About 4.30 went out with Henry & Mr Colnaghi in gondola. To Rietti where we bought some looking glass frames for the London House– Left Henry at Genl de Horsey’s to pay him a visit & then we went on to leave a note on St dell Aglio. Passing Mrs Bronson’s house they called us from the windows & said Lady Bagot was waiting for us so we stopped & picked up her & Leila & took them with us & then took them back to their hotel before we fetched Henry & went home– Rested & read. Lady Bagot & Leila dined with us– We went round by the Giudecca which was very lively with people singing in illuminated boats & finishing their 3 days’ fête. Left Henry at Valmaranas & the Bagots at the hotel & I came home early. Henry returned at 12. | |
