23 July 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 23rd July [1885]. I sat to Mr Vigor before breakfast & worked with Miss Emma Holas all the morning. Henry took out Sir John Lumley sightseeing. Visit from Ct & Css Brandolin & took them upstairs to see Henry’s portrait. Visit from Col. Calderon—who talked a good deal abt his artistic work & some medallions he won modelling in the same studio as [illegible word]. Visit fm Marguerite & Brando Brandolin & took them to see my flowers & birds upstairs. Mme Holas came to help her daughter to cut out my dress in the afternoon & went away abt 6. I rested & read. After dinner we took usual row on the canal & took iced lemonade at the gardens & listened to the music. Weather a little cooler. | |
