27 July 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 27th July [1885]. I was busy dressmaking in the morning when Lady Bagot came to see me & to offer to come & dine with us this evening. Cortelazzo arrived from Vicenza to stay with us. Lunched 1.30 & at 2 had a visit from Css Pisani & Countess Sorranzo & her daughter Concetta. I had not seen Countess Sorranzo for many years– Her mother Pss Vidoni was a playmate of Henrys at Florence. Lady Bagot came & dined with us quietly & afterwards we went for a row & after dropping Lady B at her Hotel Henry & I went to Css Valmaranas for an hour. Henry had a game of whist & I had tea & talk. Sir John Lumley went home to bed & we returned home at 12. | |
