10 September 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 10th [September 1885]. Unpacked & put things in order. Henry went out at 4 & sent the gondola back to fetch me at 5 when I joined him & we went to the Edens’ garden & Carry came to see us after lunch & we found her & Mr Eden & 2 Miss Ker’s at the garden. She gave me some flowers & grapes & we came home. At 7.30 Henry went in the gondola to meet the train by wh we expected Lady Tavistock & Miss Gurney & they came from Verona. After dinner we went out all 4 in gondola & found a boat full of Trentinos going up the canal they played valses & sang choruses very prettily so we followed them up to the station & then came home to bed abt 11. | |
