1 October 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 1st October [1885]. Up 7, practised guitar, read &c. Breakfast 9.30. Copied Boccacino in watercolors. Had the picture brought upstairs to my room. Dr Cini came. Lunch 1.30. Mr Robinson called & Henry invited him & his son to dine tonight. The new Donna di Grosso arrived last night from Zoldo to take Pierrina’s place in the kitchen. Went out at 3, left Henry with General de Horsey & went to get some flowers at Mrs Eden’s garden. We went to tea at Capt. Kirk’s who has the entresol of the Contarini delle Figare, to meet Mrs Leyland Popham & her daughters. Home at 5.30 & rested till dinner. Mlle de Perpigna, Mr Malcolm, Mr & Miss Maxwell dined with us.
