8 October 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 8th October [1885]. Had a very busy morning– Miss Holas called to settle about the arms to be put on Css Brandolin’s hangings. Mrs Hamilton called to see about painting looking glasses & I agreed she should buy a glass for wh I gave her money & we should have it sold for her. Mr Malcolm called & brought me a passero solitario as a present from the old priest at Longarone. In the afternoon Henry took the Balls out. I remained at home as I had a slight headache. Henry & I dined with the Crown P. & Pss at ¼ 8 at the Europa. I sat next the Crown P. & Herr Lutteroth next. In the evening Profr & Mrs Max Müller came in & I made their acquaintance. He has a fine head– Henry knew him but they had not met for many years. His wife is an English lady & seemed very pleasant.
