17 October 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 17th October [1885]. Henry took out our guests in the morng. Mr Brown came to see me & sat some time. After lunch we all went out in gondola to the Edens’ garden to take a walk and get green stuff for the birds. Came home to 5 o’cl tea. Visit from Mr Cyril Graham & Miss Maxwell. After dinner a game of whist was proposed & Sir Wm declaring himself willing to teach me. He & I & Lady G. & Henry played. | |
