19 October 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 19th October [1885]. A very busy morning– The old Buranella came early & then Miss Holas—& then Mr & Miss Maxwell & after the Abbate Zanetti—the priest we had met at the Marcello where he was spiritual director. Henry took out our party sight seeing in the morng. After lunch I went to call on Lady Dunmore whom I found to be an invalid lying on a sofa in the garden of the Dolgorouky palace where they live, having taken the ground floor for the winter. I did not remain long but went to join Henry & Lady Gregory & we left notes & cards for a tea party I am giving on Tuesday evening. Mr & Mrs George Layard (Clement’s son) a bride & bridegroom & Mr Brown dined with us. When they left we had our rubber.
