5 December 1885 — Paris | |
Saturday. 5th December [1885]. I went off at 10 to copy at Mr Gruyers & stayed till nearly 2. He came in before I left & I asked permission to return to work tomorrow, wh he accorded. Henry had lunched & gone out when I returned. Dacre was there & we lunched together & he returned to his work. I did not go out again; packed my & Henry’s box. Mme LaCroix came to see me. Henry & I dined early & went to see “Theodora” in wh Sarah Bernhardt is acting. We had never seen her before & were much struck with her. She is certainly very clever & but for her the piece would never have succeeded. | |
