10 December 1885 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 10th December [1885]. Mr Dixon Stewart (Car Churchill in old days) came to see me & sat a couple of hours talking. At 12 Alice Du Cane came & she & I went off on foot shopping & only returned in time for lunch at 2. Hallam came to lunch. Addie Tavistock & Rachel Gurney called directly after. At 3 I took Alice out in the carriage & we spent 1½ hour at Cecile trying on all Alices trousseau dresses—we went abt her bonnets & hats & only got home at ¼ to 6. Had some tea & then Alice & I had a long talk until nearly 7 when she had to hasten home to dress for dinner. We dined at 50 Albemarle St & met Maria & Richard & Alice, Mr & Mrs Jack Murray, Mr & Mrs Jennings, Blanche Ponsonby, & several of the Murray family. The dinner being in honor of the fiancés.
