8 May 1886 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 8th [May 1886]. Theo went out at 11. I went at 11.30 to join her at Arthur’s & we drove in a hansom to Bull’s in King’s Rd Chelsea to see their Exn of Orchids—& on to Veitch & only just got back to lunch. At 2 Henry & I drove to Charing X Station & took the train to Lady Well to visit his mother’s grave. We got back by 4.26 but found Theo & Merthyr gone back to Inwood. We had tea in my bedroom & rested till dinner. Dined with Mme d’Antas & met Sir J. & Lady Goldsmid, Ct Hatzfeldt, a young Css Lutzow, Mr & Mrs Northcote. There was a great party at the F.O. but we did not care to go.
