Saturday. 15th [May 1886]. Henry breakfasted early & went off with Sir F. Buxton & Sir Wm Gregory to Corsham Lord Methuen’s place to see if amongst his pictures wh are soon to be sold, if there are any worth buying for the National Gallery. I breakfasted in bed & got up by 10.30. Spent the best part of the morng remaking a bonnet & at 12.30 went to Blanche & took her for a walk– Went to the dressmaker a moment & then home to lunch. Arthur & Mildred were waiting for me– After lunch I drove them to Waterloo Station & we put Mildred into the train for Barnes to return to Roehampton– I left Arthur at St Thomas’ hospital & went to leave a few cards & then went home very cold & had tea. Lady Hotham our next door neighbour called—a nice old lady– Henry returned abt 6 & I gave him tea—then I went round to see Annie & Edgar– Home & dressed & we went to dine with Mamma who has Genl Brymer Schreiber staying with us who went to sleep in his chair all the evening. | |
