30 May 1886 — Brussels
Sunday. 30th May [1886]. We left Brussels by 10.40 train. Maffei & the Master came to see us off. The day was fine when we started & hot—but when we got to Calais it was raining. We had a perfectly smooth passage but the rain drove us into a deck cabin. We reached London in time for 8 oclock dinner. B & Edward came in for an hour in the evening to see us.
