31 May 1886 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. [31st May 1886]. Wrote letters. Went out in morning & when I came in I found Aunt Mary Huntly, Maria & Fred Layard come to luncheon. Drove out with Henry & left him at the National Gallery. I went on to leave cards &c & was just going to look up my brother Arthur when I saw him at the window of St James’s Club & he came out & got in the carriage to go home to tea with me. We went round by Savile Row to leave a message for Monty who comes to town tonight & at the Row met Henry & Mr T. Bruce. Here Arthur left me & I brought Henry home– Dined at home & in the eveng Monty came in to talk over Norway & our expedition to Syltebo on 10th. Great talk of a dissolution.
