2 June 1886 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 2nd June [1886]. I went out in the morning first to see B & then on to Aunt Mary & learnt from her how to pack live plants to send by post & then walked home. Blanche & Fred L. came to lunch & B. drove with me in the afternoon– It rained part of the time & we found it very hot. Called on the Rates & got home abt 6. I went off after tea to see the Thomson Hankeys & found her very much altered & feeble. I walked on to Maria’s & sat chatting with her till just before 8. Louis came home & offered to walk to Q. Anne St with me. Mrs Rate dined with us & directly after dinner we drove off to Westborne Bridge to see the apparatus for electric light on the Gordon system. Mr & Mrs Gordon were there. She a very pretty woman, wrapped up in her husband & his discoveries & inventions & they kindly showed it all to us. They light the Gt Western Station.
