12 June 1886 — En route to Norway
Saturday. 12th June [1886]. There was too much motion for me to get up so I remained where I was—eating, reading & sleeping. Towards dinner it became very rough & only 2 at dinner, Edgar & Mr Reginald Wilberforce our fellow passenger. The latter is a big hard featured man very noisy with a constant laugh & very irreverant stories—but an amusing man. There was a young Evans on board a naturalist—very consumptive looking & travelling for his health—also a silent oldish man going on some trading business– He was too deaf to contribute much to the conversation.
