20 August 1886 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Friday. 20th August [1886]. Fine day at last & rather hot. Carved. Monty had a poney saddled for Mrs Hambro & he & I walked by her side up to the bridge on the way to the saetter. There we stopped & sat over the stream & made sketches of the bridge only returning home just in time for 4 o’cl dinner. Henry started off for Haande pool directly after. I went to Up. Gredhus but it came on to blow so hard I had to land & wait so I fished the bridge till it began to rain & the wind subsided. I got a small trout when I returned to Up. Gredhus wh was lost in landing—& I touched another. In Lr Gredhus I killed a 2½ trout foul hooked. I found them at supper when I returned home & it was dark. Henry had brought in 4 grilse & a trout making 24 lbs. in all.
