8 October 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 8th [October 1886]. We breakfasted at 8.30. Henry & Mr Colnaghi went to Murano to see opening of gas furnaces applied to glass works. Mrs Burr called for me & Katie & Mrs B. & I went to Academy & Katie went to take out Isabel– At 4 the Colnaghis & we went to tea at Mrs Brown’s & met Mrs Burr & Mr Browning. Wrote letters– Dinner at ¼ 7 & Mrs Burr & Isabel. The latter went with us to the Goldoni Theatre. Miss Browning & Brown joined us there. Empty house. Three pieces—the principal piece “Il Matrimonio Segreto” very well played. It rained hard when we came home at 12. | |
