20 November 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 20th [November 1886]. Fog in early morning but it cleared by 10 so I went to paint at gallery till lunch. Today being the Q. of Italy’s birthday there was a Te Deum in St Mark’s & Mrs Ross went to see it. When I came out of the Academy I found the fog coming up again & it got very thick so that we did not go out & I amused Henry by playing patience with him. After tea I practised the guitar. Had a visit from a Mrs & Mrs & Miss Brackett friends of Lady Hammond’s. Mr Horatio Brown called. Idita came to dinner & she & Henry went to the Opera Comique “La Fille de Mme Angot.” Mrs Ross & I played the guitar & patience. We have taken a box for 30 nights at the Malibran for 50 fcs.
