22 November 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 22nd November [1886]. Mrs Ross left by 1 P.M. train to return home to Castagnolo & we are once more alone for the first time since the beginning of Septr. Idita & I had guitar lesson—& then at 4.30 went to a tea party at Capt. Kirk’s. I went to call on Ersilia Canevaro & met there Dr Vigna; he told us all about Mme Bassecourt’s death from cholera last year as he attended her. When he was gone Ersilia tried over some songs; I accompanied her. Dined ¼ 7 & then we went to the Malibran to see La Fille de Mme Angot—not badly done.
