4 December 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 4th [December 1886]. Miss Holas came to arrange about some work. At 11 she went with me in the gondola– I went to the Edens to tie flies & sent her to her home. After lunch Henry went out walking. Emily, Bss Reitzenstein, who arrived in Venice yesterday from Munich came to see me. I took her out with me in the gondola. I paid Css Mocenigo of St Stae a visit. Found her at home. I had never before been in that great palace. There seem to be still portraits of ancestors & fine ceilings. Went to fetch Henry at the Stabto. Dropped Emily at the Hot: Britannia & then home to tea. Mr Malcolm & Mrs Brown & her son & Mr Strachey & Mr Mallet & Css Andié Mocenigo dined with us. There was a game of whist & Olga, Melanie & I played patience. Emily came in the eveng. | |
