5 December 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 5th [December 1886]. At 11 Mr Bosanquet, Miss Bronson, Mrs Eden, Mrs Brown & Emily came & Henry, I & John our footman made up the little congregation. The service took just ¾ hour. I got a note from Lady Brassey saying she was here on her way to India & Australia & asking when she shd find me. I said I should be in all the afternoon as it was a dull day. She came abt 4 but stayed a short time. She had a Mr De Grax with her– We dined at 7.30 & played patience till we found we had sat up as late as one o’cl.
