16 January 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 16th January [1887]. We got up to find it snowing a fine cold snow which seemed likely to last. However the sun came out at intervals & the snow did not last all day. Went to the prayers at the Grand Hotel & afterwards to Mrs Russell’s room & paid Mrs Russell a visit & then took Edith Bronson home & afterwards to see the Edens before their lunch. Did not go out again. Css Helene Papadopoli, Ersilia, Andriana Marcello, Mrs Eden & Css Valmarana & her girl Nana came to tea to discuss the young men to be asked on Wedy. Emily came & stayed to dinner. Patience.
