17 January 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 17th [January 1887]. Busy in the morning giving out things for the house & for the ball we are going to give on Wednesday. Wrote some letters. After luncheon I went out in gondola. Called on Mrs Bronson & found her at home. I fetched Emily from her hotel & brought her home after having been to the Edens to tea. Emily would not stay to dinner. Henry & I went at half past 9 to the Valmaranas where a great many young men whom the Valmarana has invited to my dance were presented to me. Mrs Eden was there & decided to give a dance tomorrow week to every body’s delight. We came home abt 12 when Henry had finished playing whist.
