26 January 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 26th January [1887]. Our servants got back from the Edens at 6—& at 7 we were called & left by the 9.5 train for Milan– A lovely day. We found the country beyond Treviglio deep in snow & Milan very cold. Went to the Hotel Cavour. Morelli came to see us & said we were expected at 6.30 at dinner at the d’Addas & he also. We walked there. Only a family dinner, themselves—the son & daughter in law, the Brandolins & their 2 children & governess. I & D. Carlo played patiences. Henry écarté with Da Mariquita. We came back to hotel at 10 & went to bed.
