17 March 1887 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 17th March [1887]. Wrote letters &c. Visit from Lady Louisa Ponsonby. From May Boyd & Mrs W. Hanson– Fred Layard came to lunch & we drove out together. Went to buy fishing tackles & then I took him to his Club (Junior Army & N). He showed me over it. I went to Lady (Coutts) Lindsay’s afternoon tea party. Henry joined me there. There were a good many people. Lady Lindsay appeared in a gorgeous tea gown of green & salmon & white lace. The girls did the honors very prettily & the eldest is a very sweet girl & most attractive. Lady L. appeared now & then & sometimes went to rest. We dined at Stratheden House with Mr Mitchell Henry & met Mr & Mrs Howard Vincent, Col. & Mrs Charteris Wemyss &c.
