2 June 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 2nd June [1887]. Heavy scirocco & overcast sky all day. Painted in studio & copy of Bellini all morning. Henry took the girls to the Correr museum. After lunch read & practised guitar till 4. Visit from Mrs Labalmondiere & Mr C. Foster (son of old Foster at Consple). Henry & I went out in gondola for an hour but it was raining all the time. Read & wrote till dinner. The Edens, Mr Malcolm & Ersilia Canevaro dined with us & we had a capercailzie which Mr Malcolm had got for us from the Dolomites & which was pronounced very good. It rained hard. Played patience with Mr Eden.
