16 June 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 16th June [1887]. Wrote all the evening invitations for the Jubilee. Read “Music & morals.” After lunch practised harmonium. At 4 went out with Henry. Went to see Ersilia about getting the Hungarian band for that evening. Find they will come but ask 250 fcs. Went on to see Mrs Bronson & consult with her about the making of hock cup for that evening. Henry went to Stabto & then joined me there, & we came home leaving many invitations en route & fetched the girls—then went on to leave others & to write our names on the Count & Css de Bardi & to call on Mrs Hulton at St Giovanni a Paolo & then returned home to prepare for dining at the Edens garden. There we dined out of doors & abt 10 went to the giardinetto to hear the music & had iced lemonades in the gondola—sucking it through a straw. Very hot night.
