16 July 1887 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Saturday. 16th July [1887]. Spent the whole morning tidying my dress. Morelli went down to Oxford for the day. Maria called in the morning. After lunch I went out in a hansom to pay visits. Went first to see Ola & Nela—then to Arthur’s & there found a note for me so I went in & answered it. I went on to Victoria Street to see the Peabody Russells & stayed a long time talking & had tea with them. I went on to Hans Place to see Lady Lindsay who was in & then I set off to walk home. When I got to Hyde Pk Corner it suddenly came on to rain so I came home in a hansom. Miss Duff Gordon called. Rested & read in my room till dinner at 8. Mr Frizzoni dined with us & we four sat talking till 11 when Frizzoni left & we went to bed– | |
