17 July 1887 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 17th [July 1887]. Maria called for me & we went to St George’s Hanover Square to church. We had a sermon about David’s mourning for Jonathan which rather tired me. I walked up to Park Crescent with Maria afterwards & coming home met Richard & Nela who came with me. I kept Nela to luncheon. Hatzfeldt & his girl Baby came to & stayed till three & then went off to spend the afternoon at Windsor. Mr A. Ross called & then Sir Francis & Lady Alston & Mr Bulby Alston. There was a welcome & heavy shower but it cleared again & Henry & I went down in a hansom to see Addie Tavistock. As we were starting Miss Maxwell called on us but she did not stay. Found Addie & her cousin Rachel Gurney very well & as kind as ever– We stayed to tea & at 6 came to No 15 to see Blanche; we met there Morelli & came home together. Dined quietly at home.
