18 August 1887 — Kylemore Castle, nr. Recess, County Galway
Thursday. 18th [August 1887]. Lady Gregory & I went down & fished on the pool again but with no success– We came back to the house abt 12. We started off to take a little walk when Mr E. Henn hailed us from the big lake & asked me if I would like to try for trout with him so I left Augusta & went with Mr Henn. I caught a good trout abt 2½ lbs & came in to lunch at 2 & went out again with Mr Henn after lunch but we got very little the day was too fine & there was too little wind. In the evening we all sat in the billiard room. The gentlemen smoked & the ladies made music. Mrs Henn has a well trained voice wh is unfortunately not a true one. Her sister Violet played the piano well– I sang some old Spanish ditties. Lord N. ill in bed.
