5 October 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Wednesday. 5th [October 1887]. The Princess took me out with her instead of her lady & she & I & Ct Seckendorff went the round of antiquity shops & she bought different things. At 12 we went to the Ducal Palace that she might see the Bessarione collection. We were met there by Henry & the Cn Prince was also there. It was the first time I had seen him since his illness. He spoke in a whisper but looked in good spirits and was pale. It was funny to hear people talking to him in a whisper as if that would help his voice! He did not stay very long & we all went to have our luncheon. About 5 the Cn Pss & the 3 girls came to tea & the Hurtados & Bentivoglio also came. | |
