6 October 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 6th [October 1887]. We went to see the Cn Prince & Pss off by the 9.15 train for Milan. The Prince was in very good humour & when he spoke to me & I shook my head & put my fingers to my lips he said “you are cruel” & put his umbrella on his lips. They had their own travelling carriage with them. Idita Hurtado was at the station to see them off & the Prince put his hands out of the carriage & made as tho’ he were giving his blessings on her approaching marriage. They are going to Baveno to the Villa Clara lent by Mr Henfrey. The Cn Prince only goes as far as Milan tonight—in order to avoid travelling after dark—the rest go on straight.
