1 January 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 1st January [1888]. Ola & I went to the service at the room lent us at the Grand Hotel. I had promised to fetch Lady Galway to church but forgot it. However afterwards I found she had also been away at St Marks & I should not have found her at the hotel. She came to church late & after she persuaded me to go with her to St Mark’s to see all the church lighted up, it being a grand festival. After lunch Ola & I went again to church & took Lady G with us. Then Ola & I went to call on Mrs Brown & found her at home. Met there Miss Lawley & Miss Carden & I asked them to lunch with us on Tuesday. Mr Facci called. Tried duetts with Ola. Wrote letters. Lady Galway & Mr Malcolm dined with upstairs. | |
