23 January 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 23rd January [1888]. We left Venice by 9.15 train & got to Milan at 3. It was very cold journey—a great deal of snow near Milan & ice on the lagunes near Mestre. Went to Hotel Cavour & got some tea– Visit from Morelli. I went off to call on Da Laura Visconti Venosta about the Glasgow Exhibition– Went to Congi about Mr Clark’s 6 embroideries which are to be finished by end of March. Then to Mme d’Adda’s & stayed to dine there where Ola & Henry joined me. Did not stay late.
