2 March 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 2nd March [1888]. Cini came at 9 & was rather more satisfied with Ola’s state—but was anxious to get the nurse. I remained with Ola till 4 when Mrs Brown came to see me. At 5 Ersilia & Maria Cozzi, Lady Trevelyan & Lady Galway & Miss Ames came. At 4 the nurse arrived to my great relief. A nice little Canadian Miss Mackenzie. She took the nursing at once after her bath & tea. She wears a short pretty print gown & muslin cap & a white apron. Her fair hair is cut short. She is plain & wears specs: but has a pleasant face. Cini came at 10 & gave his instructions for the night & I went to bed with a quiet mind. Cloudy & cold.
