20 March 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 20th March [1888]. Ola was up for couple of hours. I modelled in wax all morning. After lunch went out with Henry. Madeleine & Beatrice Trevelyan came to tea– We had Lady Galway to dinner & took her afterwards to the B. Marcello to hear Count Geza Zichy’s Concert. Having lost an arm by a gun accident he plays entirely with the left hand & it is a wonderfully clever performance. The tune is done by the thumb & the accompaniment with the fingers all rather in “arpeggio” & in some pieces the deception is complete– A Signorina Gorin sang in between whiles very indifferently. All the Venice society was there.
