4 July 1888 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Wednesday. 4th [July 1888]. Wrote letters all the morning for the post wh arrived at 12.30. Fred went in the carriole down to Noste to meet it & see if there were letters calling him home but the letter from his wife giving a description of the illness & death at wh she was present said that his presence was not required yet so he will stay on. It was a windy day with S. wind. I fished from bridge & rose a salmon 5 times. Dined at ¼ to 5 & went afterwards with Henry to lake. We fished for char & got 0. It came on to drizzle so we gave it up and I tried Haande pool for trout without success. So we drove back abt 8.30. I was not at all well & was glad to get home. Dropped Henry & John at Bjornes & came straight home told Rayd to fish the bridge & went up to my room & to bed. Had a letter from Mlle de Perpigna from Potsdam all very sad.
