5 August 1888 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Sunday. 5th August 1888. Last night one of the younger Syltebös saw a boat being taken at 2 AM down thro Sirra bridge so he came back & told his brother Thorwald who had just come in from fishing with Raymond. The brothers started off & in Kjespool they found 5 men poaching & on seeing him the men decamped leaving their boat, nets & 6 fish some of which were still alive. Thorwald brought the boat down here & called up Raymond & they locked it up in our cellar. This morning there was a great confab as to what was to be done & it was finally decided that Dahl should go off in a boat to Eidswag & bring the Landsmann back with him by this evenings steamer– I wrote to Monty to tell him all about it. In the evening late I fished Upper Gredhus & the bridge & killed a 4 lb trout & 15 lb salmon.
