29 August 1888 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 29th [August 1888]. Still showery weather. I walked out in the morning & went to Miss Hague’s to get her to make me a boddice. Came home about 12. Wrote letters &c & did not go out again. Practised guitar. Henry came in to tea & sat with me some time talking over Mrs Austen’s will & what he intended to do & I got very low. Sir Fred Burton, Richard Du Cane, Mr Alfred Burton & Granville Eliot dined with us & we regaled them with reindeer we had brought from Norway.
