30 August 1888 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Thursday. 30th [August 1888]. We went off to Montague Place & spent a couple of hours looking over plate china &c & Fred & Mr Harding met us there. Fred came back here to lunch with us. There was a heavy thunderstorm. Mr Burton came to see me as I was not very well. Mr Haley came at 3 to take orders about the painting & decorating to be done in this house. Monty came for a short time being in town for an hour. Then Ida Layard & her girl called & old Mr Thomson Hankey. Then Mr Aleck Ross & my brother Arthur. Mr Peabody Russell & Richard Du Cane dined with us & Arthur came in the evening & brought with him Mr Frank Thompson the American railway king & his brother Dr Thompson—very pleasant clever gentlemen. | |
