22 September 1888 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Saturday. 22nd [September 1888]. I took Emilia to see Hamilton House & shopped. In the afternoon we waited at home expecting her friend Mr to come & fetch us & take us to the Botanical Gardens but he only came after 5. We went to the Drury Lane Theatre to Lady Burdett Coutt’s box to see the first night of Harris new play the Spanish Armada most beautifully got up & very interesting. Q. Elisabeth as played by Miss Nelson was admirable & her dress magnificent. Mr Harris came to the box & we congratulated him. It was rather funny Emilia being there to hear all the brag & abuse of the Spaniards! With the Coutts was a Mr & Mrs Whistler. He cousin of the Whistler. | |
