16 October 1888 — La Punta, Longarone | |
Tuesday. 16th [October 1888]. Breakfast at 9. I read aloud to Ola & Nela. At 11 Mr Malcolm took me & them for a drive up the valley towards Pieve. A brilliant day, cold & very pleasant. Passing thro’ the village of Castillo was had the shock of very nearly running over a child in the road. It was almost under the horses’ feet & was saved by a sort of miracle. We returned just in time for lunch at 1.30. Practised guitar after lunch till tea at 5 & then read aloud to the girls. Mr & Mrs DuGué arrived to stay with Mr Malcolm. | |
