4 December 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 4th December [1888]. Painted in the morning & at 12 practised the guitar with Edith Bronson who stayed to lunch. Directly after Mrs Eden came & we went off for a walk together leaving cards & paying visits; we only found Miss More at home. The little old lady lives in a house on the Zattere & has filled one room with plants. The room is one end of one of those Venetian large salas with one end all window. The sun was pouring in & she looked as in a bower. I went home to Carry’s house to see Mr Eden & they sent me home in their gondola.
