22 December 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 22nd December [1888]. Wrote a few letters & sent off Christmas Cards to England. Sr Felici called in the morng. Edith Bronson came to luncheon. Directly after lunch I went off to the Carol practise from thence to call on Mme Noce & the Admiral. Found her at home & that I had known her at Rome. She is an English woman & has with her a grown up son by a former husband. I invited them to come on Christmas night. She is a handsome still young looking woman. I hurried home as Mr Woods & Mr Jameson were at work arranging the frame for the tableaux & Pss Olga Montenegro & Edith were ready for a rehearsal but there was nothing ready so they went & sat with Nela who was still in bed & only got up to dinner. Mme Facci called & sat a weary long time with me. Ola & Henry went to the station to meet Dora Du Cane who arrived to stay with us. She came from England with Lady Galway. Dined late & early to bed.
