29 December 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 29th [December 1888]. I painted & Ola & Dora read aloud by turns. Henry took the girls out & I went out paying visits in gondola, on to the church practise I found Css Sormani Morelli at home & with her Ersilia & Maria Cozzi & they came home with me & paid me a little visit. Later Mrs DuGué called & sat some time chatting wh was very nice as she is a thorough nice type of a good English woman & very refreshing here among the Italians who altho’ very nice are so different to us. Henry took the girls to the Rossini theatre. I remained quietly at home.
