30 December 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 30th December [1888]. I & the girls went to the morning service & we brought Lady Galway back to lunch with us. Afterwards she & I went to call on Dss de la Grazia who was out & then we went to the afternoon service after which the Carols were sung but did not succeed as well as they ought as 2 bass voices were wanting. The girls went out with Henry. I took Lady Galway home to her hotel after church & brought Mrs Brown back to tea. Adl & Mme Noce, & Mr Moore, Css Valmarana, the Pandolfis with a Mme Courteuse & girl & Marquis Pallavicini &c came to call at tea time & the little drawing room was full. Mr Woods, Mr Malcolm & Mr Brown came to dinner & Ola played the piano.
